Summer Camps Are Over :)

This week was my last week of summer camps and I was with the grade 5 and 6’s and the ongoing parent’s class. Lucky for me most of the grade 5’s and 6’s enrolled in the summer camp actually showed up and most of them speak really good English. This made the camps for the week a lot of fun.
This is me with all of my grade 5 students that showed up to summer camp.
I used the same lesson plans as the week before with the grade 3’s and 4’s, but I catered them to a higher level for the grade 5’s and 6’s. Most of the students were really outgoing and used English the majority of the time, which was nice to see.
This is Amica and Lindsay and they are both in the grade 6-6 class, which is my favorite grade 6 class to teach. I was excited when I saw the two of them at camp. They are really smart and speak pretty good English.
I tried to play loads of games with them because it makes the 50 minutes go by faster and games are a lot of fun for the students. Today was the last day of camp, so I gave the students candy, pencils and Canada pins. They were really appreciative of them.

This Tony, Brian and Kevin playing Scrabble on the last day of camp. All three of them were really good at English.
Here are some of the grade 6 girls playing Scrabble and being too shy for the camera.
The parent’s classes went really this week except for Monday when I tried to teach them idioms and they found it too difficult…Oops! The rest of the classes were spent teaching them basic conversation with topics like, going shopping, interviews, etc. The parent’s really wanted to learn basic conversation, so I used a workbook to help me with dialogue and teaching them this week went by faster and easier than I expected.
Here is me and the parents I taught for the summer camp. Could I get a bit more taller, maybe?!?!
Since today was the last class I gave them all Canada flag pins and they took me for lunch at Mr. Pizza and paid for me. It was awkward at times with them asking me so many questions about me and Canada and if I had a boyfriend and what I do in Korea, etc. I know they meant well with their questions and trying to make conversation with me was nice, so I didn’t have to sit there and listen to them speak Korean to each other the whole time. Once we finished with lunch one of the parents handed me a gift and said she bought it as a thank you for teaching the class. I thought it was the sweetest gesture ever. I waited until I got back to school to open it and she bought me this beautiful diamond necklace. The parents were telling me during lunch that they wanted to continue on with the parent’s class throughout the year. I gave them my email and told them anytime they needed to learn English or wanted to learn English to just email me. They all think I’m going to forget who they are, but I assured them that I wouldn’t. Now, that summer camps are done I have nothing to do for school until the semester starts next Friday. *Side Note: Jiny asked the principal if I needed to come to school next week and he said I could stay home, but I had to go do cultural experience stuff throughout the day and then write a brief report on it. Well, Jiny mentioned all these places I’ve already been, so I literally have nothing to do but stay home next week and sleep in. I’ve already written the report as well.*
