Cambodia: The Final Chapter

So, this is the last blog about my summer vacation to Cambodia. Our last few days there were spent visiting the Floating Village as you saw in the previous blog and enjoying some cheap drinks and food in the local foreinger part of town. We also shopped at the market and tried to relax for our last few hours we would be spending in this beautiful country.
Nicole and Jenn enjoying some local Cambodian beer our last night in Siem Reap.
Mary Anne, Missy and I toasting to our last night in Siem Reap at a local restaurant. Missy was obviously not drinking, but enjoying her water all the same.
My very last day in Cambodia was the very first day I got to sleep in and it felt great. While vacations are fun and supposedly relaxing they can really be draining as well. We didn't have much time for anything in the morning because we had to be packed and in the van taking us to the bus station to catch our bus from Siem Reap back to Phnom Penh where we were flying out of. This bus ride was far worse than the last one even though I had a window seat and was far from the bathroom. The bus was very bumpy and it was hard to sleep. We had the same type of snacks as the bus ride to Siem Reap and bottles water. Unfortunately, they didn't show a movie and we got stuck watching a Cambodian comedy series. We did, however, stop in one small town for a 15 minute break which was nice, but we just wanted to get to Phnom Penh.
Once we arrived in Phnom Penh we had a few hours to kill before we had to be to the airport, so we found a restaurant to eat at and just hung out there for a few hours playing Jenga and watching America's Next Top Model. Once we were ready to head to the airport we bartered with some tuk tuk's and got one man to take us to the airport for $6, which is very cheap considering the airport is about a 30 minute ride via tuk tuk.
We ran into a bit of a panic situation at the airport when we found out we had to pay $25 in order to leave the country. Well, most of us had spent all of our money in Cambodia, so we had to find alternate methods to pay. Lucky for me, I had Korean won in my wallet, so I just exchanged that for enough American dollars to get me out of Cambodia. Once the panic attacks ended we headed upstairs to hang out and wait for our plane to arrive. Turns out our plane was delayed by 30 minutes, so we ended up staying even longer in the airport terminal.
I actually ended up getting really sick my last day in Cambodia, so this made for a really uncomfortable plane ride home, especially since I had a window seat and the two Korean women next to me slept the entire plane ride. It made it quite difficult to move to the bathroom freely. I have now been home for 6 days and I'm still in recovery mode from the sickness. I'm not sure what I caught, but it has been an extrememly painful past few days.
Anyways, Cambodia was an amazing time and an incredible country. I can't wait to go back next year with my sister and share all of the country's greatness with her.
