There isn't really anything exciting to blog about after Thursday because believe it or not I had a pretty chill weekend. It started with me being lucky enough to not have school Friday, so I stayed in bed for a good portion of the morning. Unfortunately, I had to be up in time for the wahing machine repair man and who knows if they will be early or late in Korea. *Rewind: At the beginning of last week my washing machine decided to stop working, so I have been without one for over a week now.* Anyways, the repair man came and he fiddled around with the machine and some pipes and claimed to have fixed it before he left. Well, I went to use it about a half an hour after he left and it was still broken exactly where it was broken originally. The problem was, both him and the landlord's wife were speaking to me in Korean, so I had no idea what was being said or done and I just assumed when I could hear water running that it was fixed. On Thursday, I actually had to get the landlord's wife to wash my towels, which was awkward, but nice of them to offer. She told me she would bring the towels down to me when they were finished and she did. She said all of this in Korean of course and just guessed by her hand gestures what she was talking about. Charades becomes really useful here and I've become a pro at it. When she brought my clean towels down she was even nice enough to fold them for me.
I've decided to just deal with the issue and wait until this week to get it dealt with. Thank goodness for Tracy who has been kind enough to lend me her house key while she is in Japan this week, so I can use her washing machine.
Anyways, after the washing machine ordeal I headed into Itaewon to meet Rudy and the gang for another night of drinking and dancing. It rained all day/night Friday, so wandering around Seoul made for a very wet night. I didn't stay in Seoul for the weekend because I told some of my Incheon girlfriends that I would go out with them Saturday night.
I hadn't seen them in a while, so I was excited to get together with them. Then bad luck number two striked me, my cell phone died on me early Saturday morning while I was still partying and it wouldn't charge in any cell phone chargers that I tried, so I had no way of contacting anyone. Since I didn't leave Seoul until noon Saturday by the time I got home it was past 3:00 p.m. I was exhausted, so I facebooked some of the girls I was suppose to be meeting to let them know that I wouldn't be joining them because I was way too tired. I fell asleep at 4:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon and didn't wake up until 1:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon. The 19 hours of sleep did me a world of good. I could have slept for longer, but I wanted to make something of the day. I didn't leave the house until after 6:00 p.m. Sunday when I went over to Jenn's place to meet up with the girls to discuss and organize our Cambodia trip. I hadn't seen those girls in a few weeks, so it was nice to sit and chat with them and plan our awesome summer vacation together. We head out on Saturday and I cannot wait.
Ok, so this week I have no camps because they don't start at my school until the week I get back from Cambodia, so I basically just have to show up to the school and sit in the office with nothing to do. I showed up yesterday to a dead quiet school with no teachers except administration, the principal and the vice-principal. I was a bit worried at first as to whether or not I was suppose to even be there, but I was. Luckily, the principal and vice-principal told Jiny I could leave at noon everyday this week, so I only have to sit bored in the office for 3.5 hours. I've already gotten to watch two movies so far this week and finished a Powerpoint presentation for one of my camp lessons.
As for the broken cell phone I decided after school yesterday that I really wanted to get my cell phone fixed, so when I left school at noon I headed over to Show and spent 45 minutes there waiting for the guy working to help me out. He finally, told me to go to Yeonsu where the LG repair service shop was. It took me about 20 minutes to find the building, which was a 2 minute walk from Tracy's building. When I did find it I ended up waiting about half an hour before I got service and then when I did get served the man fixed my cell phone right then and there. I was like, "If only the Western world would catch on to these techniques." Turns out the part of the phone that is used to charge the battery needed to be replaced. After about an hour my phone was fixed and now it is back in business. I've also decided to return to the gym this week. I figured, I have half days and the use of Tracy's house (a 30 second walk from her building to the gym), so I may as well take advantage. I didn't realize how much I missed the gym until I went back.
I thought I would end this blog with showing you how dorky, but insanely cute my mom is. She sent me this homemade paper pin card. I told her I needed/wanted more Canadian flag pins to give away to students, so she made this cute little display. Way too much time on her hands.
