The Early Bird Catches the Worm :)

Today was a very early and busy day. I'm still not use to the time change and I really hope it only takes a few days to get use too. Anyways, my day started out with a shower I didn't know how to use and finally figured out when I was almost done bathing, go figure. I had to be up early to meet with my co-teacher and Sera, from the school board office. We just went through paperwork and a basic itinerary for the next couple weeks before training March 27-31. After that was all said and done, my co-teacher, Jiny (who speaks very little english) and I headed to the hospital. Hospital? Well, in order for me to teach I needed an HIV and drug test. We literally weren't even there for 20 minutes and I was done and $30 poorer. Then it was off to the bank to get me an account. The drive took what felt like forever, but was likely 30 minutes. The bank was two blocks from the school I'm teaching at. It took us a good 20-30 minutes at the bank, but I'm now the proud owner of a Korean bank account. Once we finished at the bank, Jiny drove us to the school, so we could enjoy lunch with everyone. And when I say everyone, I really mean everyone. Students and teachers were everywhere. Lunch was a bit to be desired. First off all, it was cafeteria food. Second of all, it was with the entire school. And third of all, it was curry. If you know me at all, you know I hate curry, so guess my reaction to finding out that lunch was curry? Disgusted. There was curry something or other that was meant for your rice and then a curry sauce for the breaded brocoli, which was actually ok. And then a cold soup (served cold), which didn't get touched and some dried fish thing, that was ok. I was a bit disappointed lunch wasn't more entertaining and edible, but just one of things I need to get use to. After lunch, Jiny took me upstairs to the 5th and final floor of the school where I will be sharing an office with her. There is no desk and chair for me yet, but she assured me it would be there in a couple days. I met the vice-prinicipal, who is a man (I know your shock Lauren), and some other lovely female teachers. Then the rest of my school day was spent on the internet in the office, with Jiny's permission, while she taught class. After school ended there was a brief meeting with four other teachers and the vice-prinicipal and me. I knew absolutely nothing they said, so you can guess how thrilling that meeting was for me. I must say though, Korean is a very entertaining language, they talk so damn fast. It's my goal to learn Korean by the time my contract ends. Not as easy as you may think.
