This is Bobby and I. He was the bass player, I believe and one of the most adorable dreadlocked boys I have ever encountered.
We enjoyed a beach party with a bonfire on the beach with some of the Sama Sama workers. Unfortunately, we missed the bands play, which sucked, but we got to drink for $2/drink.
This is Acok and I around the bonfire at the beach party. He was our waiter every time we went to Sama Sama.
Z was the bartender and he always made me big and delicious strawberry daquiris. He also serenaded me to James Blunts - You're Beautiful, so that pretty much made him my favorite person.
Heidi and I decided to go on a snorkelling trip. It was a four trip to the other two Islands and we along the way we stop to snorkel. We saw Sea Turtles, which are near extension, giant clams and many many different varieties of fish. Unfortunately, I have no pictures during the snorkelling part because my camera wasn't water proof, but I did document Heidi's lunch...
This is barracuda. Just by looking at it you can tell it's not a very friendly fish.
It is definitely much friendlier when it is BBQ'd and sitting on your plate in front of you ready to be devoured. Heidi ate the barrcuda for lunch and it may seem disgusting, but it tasted damn good. I would highly recommend BBQ'd barracuda if you have it as an option.
Lunch was the last stop on the snorkelling trip, which was on Gili Air. After lunch we took the boat back to Gili T. Heidi and I ended up meeting a girled named Jen, who actually came over to Gili T with us a few days earlier, on the same snorkelling trip as us. Turns out she taught in South Korea for two years, went home and is now teaching in Abu Dabi. She was a really sweet girl, so we met up for dinner and drinks with her.
This is Jenn and I at Sama Sama. We had to introduce who to the place we loved and the daquiri's we cherished.
*Insert disaster story: Remember when I told you Heidi and I went for a walk to the other end of the Island and it had a disasterous effect on me?? Well, just look at my neck and shoulders in this picture and you have your answer. The sun attacked me hardcore that day and we were only out for about 90 minutes and I WAS wearing sunscreen. If you can believe that, the sun was just that strong.*
Heidi and I had ended up upgrading to a nicer hotel that had a pool and hot water because we were sick of cold water and a fan. We moved to the Beach Hotel Resort, which was well kept and even had a flower on each bed greeting the guests, which is nice to see in a tropical country.
Yes, that is a shower. Yes, that shower is outside. The coolest part of our hotel room was our bathroom being outside.
Our last night on Gili T we headed to Sama Sama, yet again and brought Jen with us. We ate dinner there, which was delicious, enjoyed two for one daquiri's and watched S2B play. It was another great night with the Sama Sama boys, the band and Jen.
Jen, Heidi and I enjoying the strawberry daquiri's way too much. They really are just that delicious that they are featured in all the drinking pictures.
Leaving Gili Trawangan was hard, but it needed to be done. We had to move on to our next destination, which was Lombok, the main Island. Heidi wanted to stay another day on Gili T, but I was ready to move on. I wanted to see what the rest of Indonesia had to offer.
