How's The Weather? It's Rainism.

Last Monday was my first week of winter camps, but they weren't at my school. I'm doing two weeks of camp at Jung-ang elementary school, which is about a 20 minute bus ride from my house. I'm working with two Korean co-teachers and the foreign teacher, Anna at that school. Last week was the grade 3's and 4's combined. There were suppose to be 30 students divided into two classes, but only 15 students ended up showing up. We decided to just teach altogether and keep it as one class with four teachers.
This winter camp used a workbook that was already created, so it made teaching a lot easier and lesson planning easier. However, the students English speaking abilities and levels was extremely low. They hardly understood any of the lessons we taught and they had a lot of trouble speaking English. It was frustrating for me because the students at my school speak pretty good English, but compared to this elementary school my students have a higher English speaking ability and level.
This is Kyle. He was the smartest boy student and the cutest.

One of the lessons was 'Favourite Things - Toys'. We decided to create our own Twister game on the floor and have the students play. It was a huge hit. This was my group and they got the most twisted.

This is Amy. She was really cute and her English was pretty good. She was also, one of the better behaved students.

The last day of camp we had a taste test. The students closed their eyes and had to guess what taste we were feeding them.

This is just proof that I actually taught at the camp.

The last day of camp we made Canapes, which is just a cracker topped with cheese, pickles, ham, tomatoes, any topping you want really. This was the group I was in charge of. Eul (glasses), Kyle, Eun Ji and Taylor.

We had a contest for the tallest Canape and Hamlet won...and yes, you heard correct. His English name is Hamlet. Try not to laugh when you think about trying to teach him and having to say that name.

Jenny (I gave her that English name) and May are busy creating Canapes, but had time to pose for a picture.

Irene was a cutey and she made very pretty Canapes.

The camp ran from 9:00 a.m. - 12:20 p.m. Monday - Thursday, so after each lesson the four of us teachers would eat lunch together and then plan the next days lesson. I got to leave around 2:00 - 2:30 p.m. everyday, which was nice and left me plenty of time to get stuff done in the afternoon. I also got Friday off of school, so sleeping in felt great.
