Adventure Korea Trip to Gangcheon: Butterfly Festival!

Day two of the Adventure Korea trip led us to Hampyeong for the Butterfly Festival. I was really excited because I'm a huge fan of butterflies. The weather was a bit chilly, but there was no rain, so that was a plus. A brief overview of the festival: *The Hampyeong Butterfly Festival offers visitors the opportunity to get a close look at ecology, in particular the region’s butterflies. During festival period, the whole of Hampyeong town is decorated with butterfly themed lights and structures. Visitors can enjoy a variety of animals and plants, as well as performances and street events, which have butterfly themes. The festival features exhibition halls containing a large and varied collection of butterflies, insects, and water plants.*
There were butterflies created in the mountains and an abstract butterfly piece of artwork in the center square. I love butterflies, I love purple. You could say it was a happy day for me! Inside the exhibit we got to enjoy a bunch of diiferent species of butterflies and other insects, however, they were all dead/fake. I enjoyed the butterflies hanging from the trees. My wifey and I lobe each other very much, hence the heart we are making Korean style. Nicole is holding a butterfly, that is apparently trained not to fly away, and it started a paprazzi frenzy with the Korean photographers that were following us around all day. This seriously has to be the world's largest cow. How would you like to eat that for dinner?? Just chilling like a villian at the festival on the odd looking caterpillar made of tires. While we were waiting inline for the reptile and amphibian exhibit I decided to take a picture of the massive snack made of straw or something...it was awesome! Nicole is not really scared of everything, so she picked up a snake. Brave girl she is.
When we finished at the festival it was time to head back to Seoul on our 5 hour bus ride. I was exhausted because of the litte amount of sleep we got the night before, so I was in and out of conscienceness. When we finally arrived in Seoul, Nicole and I went to this organic buffet in Hongdae. We paid a bit too much for the quality of the buffet, but at least we can say we tried it and scratch it off the list. Then we headed home on the bus and I unpacked, did some laundry, showered and went to bed.
