!Baseball Training!
Thursday was a breezy day at school. I was doing level tests with the 6th graders during each class, which took about 20-30 minutes of each class. The grade 3's are easy to teach period, and the last 10 minutes they did level tests.
After school I headed home to make a quick dinner and get ready for baseball training. I decided to join it for a month and see how it goes. If I notice a difference in my body and eating habits then I will continue with it, or until I get bored. It is pretty pricey to join for a month, but you can go all 5 days a week if you want and you are constantly working your muscles and learning different techniques. I'm hoping this training will get rid of my fear of baseballs as well. Although I'm not quite sure if it's the baseball I'm afraid of or the pain of being hit by a baseball. If you know me, you know that I hate pain, I resist it at all costs and I think that makes me weak when it comes to playing sports. The training is for 2 hours a day and we start with stretching, then jogging, then sprints, soccer, etc depending on the day. Then we play catch for about half an hour and then again, depending on the day we will do drills, batting, mini baseball game and then we end the night with push-ups, sit-ups, or squats, etc followed by stretches. It really is a work-out like no other because you are working all different muscle groups and I'm gaining strength in muscles I didn't even know existed.
After baseball we headed over to a Korean friend of Nicole's, DJ, who owns a galbi restaurant. He also comes to baseball training, but only when he get time off from working. He invited us there for some drinks and food. I didn't stay very late because I was exhausted from training and knew my body was going to be a hurting machine Friday, so I had a few pieces of galbi, a few drinks and headed home.
Friday was exactly how I expected it to be. I could hardly move my body from all the working out it got on Thursday night. Thank goodness my classes were the same as Thursday. Level tests, level tests and more level tests. It was nice having a 5 class day though, because I got to stay standing a lot of the day, so my muscles stayed warm and mobile.
After school I met up with Nicole and we headed to baseball training. Day 2 of training was a bit more chill because it was Friday. We did the usual stretches and jogging at the beginning, but got to have a soccer game afterwards. Then it was catching followed by a baseball game. I feel like a bit of an outcast because Nicole is really sporty, so she is good at baseball and there are Korean kids that are insane baseball players that come to training and everyone is Korean except Nicole, Mike and I. I feel a bit awkward and very nervous when I'm there and everyone watches me. I feel like I should be better than I am, but I'm not use to this intense of training and with guys that play baseball professional. However, it will be a great learning experience for me and I'm hoping it will make me stronger, fitter and a better baseball player.
I ended up leaving a bit early on Friday night because I had to be up early Saturday morning to head to Jeju-do for the weekend.
