Saturday was a good day. I tried to sleep in, but I started receiving texts at 7:30 in the morning. The first one was from a good friend back home who just wanted to tell me a family issue and the second text was from Missy. She had gotten woken up by the street festival taking place outside her apartment and couldn't get back to sleep. She sent the text to invite everyone to come out to Bupyeong and spend the day at the festival. Since Missy was in Yeonsu (where I live) for a dentist appointment I met up with her and we trained to Bupyeong together. On our way to Missy house we saw a B-Boy crew breakdancing in the Bupyeong Underground. There is a video below I took of the boys dancing. They were really good and so much fun to watch. We watched them for a bit and then headed to Missy's where she changed and I hung out and waited and took some pictures out her window at the festival below.
We headed down to the festival around 1:00 p.m. We each decided to have a beer and get our faces painted. Then we headed to a spot on the side of the main stage and watched some performances.
We hung out there for about 90 minutes and then met up with more people and cruised the street. It was littered with tents that contained many different traditional Korean cultural activities. There was a 'Making straw dolls' tent, 'Make a Korean mask' tent, 'Play traditional Korean games' tent, etc. It was really exciting and the weather was so nice. We stayed outside all day and enjoyed the festival. There were a lot of things to do and there was a mini parade. It was nice to be so indulged in Korean culture. We even got to try on traditional Korean hanboks for free and get our picture taken for free. They even printed enough pictures for each of us that was there. Left: Missy and I with the masks we made. Right: Missy and Mary Anne making straw dolls. Center: Mary Anne, Missy, Kylie and I posed with a random Korean girl for one picture. Bottom Left: Traditional Korean dragon. Bottom Right: Korean Traditional Pole Dance.

We took a break for dinner and then we decided to just hang in Bupyeong and have some drinks. We managed to find an unused tent with some tables and chairs in it, so we claimed it our territory and hung out there and drank well into the night. We attracted a lot of Koreans to us because there was a big group of us and we were all white.
It was a long day, but it was fun. I decided to turn in before the last train ran for the night, so I could get a goods night sleep. Left: Erika with an adorable Korean kid we met under the tent. Right: Me with a Korean girl that spoke great English that we all met last night.
Today was a pretty chill day. I woke up earlier than I wanted to be up, but I had a good sleep none the less. I managed to chat with my parents for about 20 minutes in the morning and then I had planned on attending the Bboy Championships in Suwon in the afternoon, but it turns out the time was earlier than I was told. I tried to catch a cab to get to the Foreigners Talk House on time to catch the bus with everyone, but I couldn't get a cab, so instead I went to the market and stocked up on some fruite and veggies. Afterwards, I caught a bus and headed over to Tracy's. We decided to grab some dinner at the Chinese restaurant a block from her house. On the way down the elevator we bumped into Nick, Chris and Nicole, so they joined us for dinner. The Chinese food was great and a nice change to the Korean food we eat on a regular basis. After dinner Tracy and I decided to take it easy, so we headed over to Cinus (the local Yeonsu movie theatre) to catch a movie. We decided to go and see, "What Happen In Vegas", with Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz. It was a cute movie and it was funny. We parted ways after the movie and on my way home I bumped into my friend Lisa. Turns out she was at the same movie as us. Now, I'm just eating some popcorn, courtesy of the new microwave, drinking a delicious strawberry smoothie I made myself and getting ready to curl up with a good book before I head to bed.
